Why get outside?

Our aim is to create great value outdoor recreation experiences for young people, families and community groups. Thrive Outside offers many day and journey activities including bushwalking, kayaking, rock climbing and mountain biking.

There are so many proven benefits of spending time outside and involving yourself in outdoor adventure activities. Some of these include; increased self- esteem and confidence, stronger leadership abilities, stress reduction , improved mental and physical health

and wellbeing. We believe that  people in Australia do not get enough opportunities to recreate outside.

Thrive Outside aims to fill this gap through providing more adventure opportunities and creating healthy

habits of spending more time outside.

About Me.

My name is Darcy and I am the proud creator of Thrive Outside. This is the story of why Thrive Outside was created.
I am an avid adventurer and overall lover

of the great outdoors. I wasn’t born with a passion for adventure. Just like most students, I spent a-lot of my time inside; inside a classroom, studying at home, playing guitar, scrolling social media

or watching YouTube.

However unlike most school age students I was offered an opportunity that opened my eyes to the world of outdoor recreation. Being selected as part of an Outdoor Education group allowed me to actively learn and have fun outside. From rock climbing at Mt Arapiles, mountain biking in the Flinders Rangers and travelling to New Zealand for a multi-day bush-walk. There was no denying, I started to really ‘froth’ this adventurous life! These experiences truly changed the way I live my life for the better....Thrive Outside is an opportunity for me to now pay it

forward.

In 2021 I studied at TAFE SA completing a Diploma in Outdoor Leadership. This Diploma not only solidified my love for the outdoors but it enabled me to become a qualified instructor in fields such as rock climbing, kayaking, bushwalking, mountain biking and wilderness first-aid.

I have since been actively working in the outdoor industry for various companies and schools around South Australia. Through my work I have noticed that some students love (froth) outdoor recreation. However their school camp experience is where is starts, and finishes due to the large barrier to entry (knowledge of how to

do safely and expensive equipment cost).

This is how the idea of Thrive Outside was born.
